Is Scotland Doing The Right Thing?
Most Americans are probably thinking that Scotland's minister, Kenny McASkill, is not doing his job. On Monday he let the Lockerbie bomber, Megrahi, return to his home country of Libya. The reason behind his decision is because the bomber has prostate cancer and wanted to spend his last days with his family, which I think is the ethical thing to do. Just think about it if you were in prison and found out that you had cancer wouldn't you want to spend your last days with your family? In the United States people are upset because there were about 270 Americans killed in that bombing.http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/08/18/AR2009081800609.html FBI director Robert Mueller wrote to MacAskill, saying: "Your action makes a mockery of the rule of law (and) gives comfort to terrorists." http://http//www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/08/24/AR2009082401436.html I think that what Mueller said was a little harsh. The man was only having compassion on the bomber. I think people in this world have lost their compassion. If we all would have a little more compassion and help people this world would change. It's not going to change by going green, but by helping people and caring for others, even if they have done you wrong. Just a little something to think about.
